Editorial Policy
Our guides aim to answer the reader’s question early, explain what changes the answer and keep important claims traceable to current sources.
A useful answer comes first
Each guide should answer the main question early and offer a practical next move. Necessary limits belong beside the advice they change.
Sources and claims
Consequential horticultural, regional, safety and product claims must fit the source, geography, date, model or label behind them. We prefer government, university and other primary sources for gardening and safety guidance. Model-specific specifications, prices and availability are checked against current manufacturer or retailer information.
Facts, calculations, editorial judgment and creative concepts are kept distinct. A source list documents the basis for claims; it does not replace a clear explanation.
Authorship, review and experience
A byline names the person or team responsible for the version shown. Source-led collaborative guides use How Gardens Work Editorial Team. Benjamin Morrison is named as an author or reviewer only when version-specific records show that work occurred. His founder title alone does not establish authorship, review or hands-on experience.
We do not say that a product or method was grown, installed, owned, used or tested unless documented work and real results support the claim. Specifications and licensed imagery are not performance tests.
Photographs and explanatory graphics
Documentary photographs of plants, pests, symptoms, gardens, materials and products must be real, relevant and rights-cleared.
Clearly illustrative diagrams and explanatory graphics may be used when their labels and assumptions are checked. Captions should help the reader understand what an image shows without turning it into proof of a cause, diagnosis or performance result.
Products and affiliate links
Buying guidance begins with the gardening job, selection criteria, full cost and ownership trade-offs. We separate verified specifications, manufacturer claims, editorial judgment and genuine testing. A qualifying affiliate relationship is disclosed before the first link, and the link is marked sponsored. Affiliate availability does not determine the conclusion.
